Giro d’Italia 2017: The Ultimate Italian Alps Experience

If the Alps define the Giro d’Italia, there can be nothing more rewarding than taking on the same challenge yourself and conquering the mountains of the Dolomites.

Get ready to enjoy ‘the world’s most beautiful race’ as we traverse the same mountains, valleys and roads as the Pro’s and create an experience of a lifetime. An experience where you’ll tackle many of the most famous climbs and ride some of Italy’s and the world’s most beautiful roads by day, while relaxing into the wonderful food and cultural journey we’ll be taking you on each night.

Up to 650 km’s of riding and 21 000 metres of climbing over 8 days – this route is designed to suit riders who want a comprehensive Alpine challenge that gives them a taste of what the peloton of the Giro experience. It also can accommodate riders who want the intensity dialled down. This route offers all riders the ultimate experience of the Italian Alps, at their own chosen level.

Escorted daily rides through the spectacular Dolomites – we’ll do a different ride each day, riding between 50 -100km per day and we’ll have you exploring some of the most iconic climbs of the Dolomites including Stelvio, Gavia, Mortirolo. Marmolada, Passo Pordoi and Monte Grappa to name a few.

Comprehensive back-up and support on all rides – a local ride guide will join us with an intimate knowledge of the Italian Alps and surrounding areas, ensuring your riding experiences are truly local, and take in many of the unique climbs and back roads of the breathtaking regions of Lombardia, Alta Badia & Veneto. Rides are fully supported with a support vehicle, mechanic and your safety as our priority.

Being close to all the Giro action – we’ll watch a start, a finish and enjoy the whole show as the peloton motors over one of the major mountain passes.

Full A’QTO cycling kit – designed by Damian for our group and made in Italy, this exclusive 4 piece kit for ‘The Ultimate Alps – Giro 2017’ tour will see you riding in style, comfort and warmth through the Dolomites.

Transport to and from Milan and Venice airports upon arrival and departure – you will be picked up from Milan airport and driven to Venice airport (or train station if preferred) on departure, and all your transport needs for the week are taken care of, including transporting of bikes and bike cases.


Beautiful boutique hotel accommodation in 3 places over 8 nights – our focus is on authentic, family run boutique hotel experiences that will have you immersed into the regions we visit. Your nights will be supremely comfortable, with all the amenities and services you need for a great post-ride experience; including swimming pools, saunas, massages and more.

A warm arrival to the Alpine region and to the spectacular town of Bormio – the home of Stelvio – settling into our hotel by mid afternoon, we’ll roll out for a light ride to awaken your legs, and then enjoy a Welcome aperitivo and dinner, kicking off our week in true Italian style.

Daily buffet breakfasts – a daily, home made Italian feast awaits, with magnificent local produce including prosciutto, salumi, cheese, cakes, fresh fruit and eggs, that will keep you going for hours on the bike.

All dinners included – we’ll be celebrating the start of our week in Bormio, where the hosts of our welcome dinner are true artists, and will delight you with a magical experience. We’ll then experience the best of Alta Badia’s food and wine, and conclude with a very special finale dinner in the beautiful town of Asolo. 

Aperitivo hour each day – this is one of the greatest traditions in Italy and a perfect reward after a great day out on the bike. Whether it’s a local icy cold beer, a glass of Italian Prosecco, a regional wine or our personal favourite, the Aperol Spritz, it’s our shout.

Warm, engaging Italian hospitality – your hosts, Damian Hancock and Nancy De Losa will lead you through the week, sharing their warm, open entertaining style.  Combining Damian’s experience in leading group rides with their huge passion for Italian food and culture, means you’ll feel right at home in every town we visit. Nancy’s Italian heritage and fluency in speaking the language makes for a smooth experience with the locals each day. You’ll relish the experience that comes from their meticulous planning and attention to detail in all areas on and off the bike.

Your choice to take some time out – explore all that the magnificent Dolomites towns we visit have to offer – if one day you’d prefer to take a break and enjoy the towns we’re in or the places we’re staying, feel free. This is your experience.
