Sardinia Bike Tour
A land of discovery, adventure and wild beauty

Overview of our Cycling Holidays in Sardinia
Beyond its spectacular shores, Sardinia has been shaped by its long and rich history. As you traverse its hilly and mountainous landscape, you’ll discover traces of indigenous Nuragic civilization, Phoenician and Roman influences, and evidence of Byzantine, Arab, Spanish and Savoy rule. It is this backdrop of natural and cultural wonder that makes it a cyclist’s paradise.
With beautiful roads, rugged mountains, pristine white sand beaches and water in a million shades of turquoise and sapphire, you’ll feel like you’re rolling into paradise every day. Starting in the north west of the island, our riding adventure tracks south along the coast, before cutting inland into the island’s agricultural and rugged heart, and then rolling further south along the magical east coast.
Expect quiet roads with diverse and beautiful landscapes; a mix of stunning coastal scenes, country estates and rolling hills, limestone rock formations and canyons, old towns of Spanish and Arab influence, a daily immersion into the history and culture of the Sardo people, and a food and wine experience that will surprise and delight.
You’ll enjoy the relaxed pace of island life, a beautiful Mediterranean climate and the warmth of Sardinian hospitality as we roll behind the tourist curtain for an unforgettable adventure.
Sardinia Cycling Tour Ride Itinerary
Experience cycling in Sardinia, Italy.
Sardinia is a paradise for cyclists.
Our daily rides will take you through ancient towns of Spanish influence, along coastlines with the most vibrant coloured waters you will ever see, and up to rugged wind-swept headlands, and that’s just in one day.
We’ll climb past vineyards, into the rugged, unspoilt and peaceful interior of the Barbagia and the majestic Supramonte, we’ll hear first the bells of cows, goats, sheep and horses, even before we see them, and you’ll roll into villages covered in murals and art which depict their unique character.
Our Sardinia cycling holiday will see you enjoy every moment of a natural and unspoilt wonder that is truly a mesmerising feast for the senses.
We’ll start our warm-up ride by rolling around the ancient walls of the centro storico of Alghero, before making our way out of town for a stretch beside the sea and soft sand of the San Giovanni beach. As we follow the coast towards Capo Galera and then head further west and take the slight climb up to Capo Caccia, we’ll enjoy beautiful views back to Alghero.
We’ll soak up the views, take a few photos and then roll back to our stunning seaside villa.
It’s the perfect introduction to western Sardinia and a good chance to shake the cobwebs from your legs after your travels.

Make the decision to do the shorter ride and take a swim or enjoy the tailwind home as we take to the meandering back roads, through small villages and more picturesque open rolling hills

We keep climbing into the craggy rock strewn landscape on our way to visit a 4th generation artisan knife maker who is handing the craft to his son and nephew.
After our visit and mid ride coffee stop, we’ll take our last climb before an undulating 20km descent along beautiful, quiet backroads. We’ll finish our ride in a village known for its buildings painted with murals depicting scenes from Sardinian rural life. You will relish every pedal stroke as you find your own tempo and twist and turn up the edge of the mountain, taking in the stunning landscape that unfolds beside you. This superb ride then gets even better once you’ve made it to the top of the pass as it’s “all downhill from here” to our new seaside location.

Food & Wine
Sardinian cuisine is influenced by the island’s varied history, and as you move from west to east and north to south, and from the sea to its internal agricultural and pastoral heart, regional specialties change. Taking influence from Italian, Spanish and Arab cuisines, dishes are uniquely different across the island, while always using a lot of fresh and natural ingredients.
As we traverse the island on tour, you’ll enjoy flavours from the sea and of course a range of delicious pasta dishes including Fregula and Culurgiones. As you travel inland, the cooking becomes more hearty and rustic, with slow cooked lamb and maiolino cooked on a charcoal fire. Meals are always accompanied by the very traditional pane carasau and local olive oils, and you’ll be sure to taste an array of local cheeses.
The wine of Sardinia is also a diverse story following its history, dominations and of course terroir, with the two main varieties being the white Vermentino di Gallura and the full bodied vino rosso of Cannonau. While these varieties are grown on the entire island and each region has a style of its own, this is not a two horse island for wine, and we’ll be enjoying a range of other special and unique wine varieties grown and produced across the island.
