An Update from the Giro 2019 Rumour Mill

With only 2 weeks to go until the Giro d’Italia 2019 official route is announced, the excitement builds; a few stages have been confirmed and the rumour mill flies with speculation.

What we know for sure is that Bologna, the capital of Emilia Romagna, will host the first two stages and another two will feature in the region on stages 10 & 11.

After completing quite a lot of research, including talking to key contacts in Italy, we have compiled the list of rumours below of possible stage starts and finishes, as the Giro moves into the final 10 days in the mountains.

The Mountain Stages Rumour Mill

Stage 12 – Start in Cuneo and finish in Pinerolo

Stage 15 – Finish in Como

Stage 16 – Start around Lovere or Sarnico and come up to the valley, climb Gavia, from the Ponte di Legno side, descend into Bormio, and then climb Mortirolo from Mazzo, before ending in Ponte di Legno

Stage 20 – Start in Feltre and ride over or finish on the majestic Passo Croce d’Aune

Stage 21 – Finish in Verona with an ITT

There has also been more than one mention of the following climbs being included as part of the tour: 
– Passo dello Stelvio 
– Tre Cime di Lavaredo
– Monte Maddalena
– Izoard 
– Colle del Monginevro

Our Current Giro Tour Itinerary Options

Based on our research, we have currently developed 3 route options for our Giro Cycling tour from the 24th May to 1st June 2019, taking in a stage start, a finish and a couple of amazing mountain passes, for what will be a sensational 9 days.

Once the route is announced on 31st October, we’ll be sharing our offical 2019 Tour Itinerary.
