A SPECTACULAR RIDING EXPERIENCE

Daily rides through the spectacular Le Langhe wine region – we’ll do a different ride each day and have you cycling through the picturesque and iconic wine region of Le Langhe, taking in the most spectacular areas and towns of Barolo, La Morra, Barbaresco, Neive, Serralunga d’Alba and more.

Daily Rides:
Day 1 – Barbaresco: 20km & 420m  The perfect introduction to Piemonte, with its rolling hills covered in a patchwork of oranges and yellows that stretch as far as the eye can see, with one gradual climb back up to Neive.

Day 2 – Garassino: 47k & 1050m  It’s time for you to explore the maze of tiny roads that wind their way through the famous Barbaresco vineyards and hazelnut groves on our way to the village of Garassino.

Day 3 – La Morra & Barolo: 75km & 1500m  Today is your longest day. You’ll descend and wind your way around to the ancient Roman-era hill top village of La Morra, where you’ll have panoramic vistas of the snow capped Alps in the background on your way to the next iconic town of Barolo, before our light rollercoaster journey back to Neive.

Day 4 – Bra: 57km and 740m  Today is a bit of a rest day on the bike with a traditional coffee shop ride. Expect a slight amount of undulating terrain on our way to the birthplace of the slow food movement.

Day 5 – Santo Stefano Belbo: 50km and 1195m  You have three distinct but gentle rolling hills to contend with today, continually rolling past cultivated vineyards and natural forests en route to Santo Stefano Belbo.

Day 6 – Serralunga d’Alba: 50km and 1350m  You take to the quite and narrow ribbons of tarmac that wind their way over the rolling hills to Serralunga d’Alba before descending and starting our main climb of the day past Bene Velloa, with a landscape of chestnut groves and mushroom forests

Comprehensive back-up and support on all rides a local ride guide will join us with an intimate knowledge of Le Langhe, ensuring your riding experiences are truly local, and take in many of the undiscovered back roads and rolling climbs of this breathtaking region. Rides are fully supported with a support vehicle, mechanic and your safety as our priority.

Full A’QTO Cycling Kit – designed by AQTO and made in Italy, this exclusive kit for our Travel guests will see you riding in style, comfort and warmth in the midst of Autumn.

Transport to and from Turin upon arrival and departure – you will be picked up from Turin and driven back on departure, and all your transport needs for the week are taken care of, including the transporting of bikes and bike cases, and transport for non-riding partners to various activities.

FOOD, WINE & HOSPITALITY AT ITS BEST

Beautiful boutique hotel accommodation in hilltop Neive – located in Neive’s historic centre, our family run boutique hotel brings together the beauty of old and new Piemonte style; featuring ancient stone walls and antique Langhe wood combined with the ease and comfort of all newly renovated amenities, you will feel right at home in Le Langhe in no time, enjoying a supremely comfortable post-ride experience each night.

A warm arrival to the spectacular town of Neive – settling into our historic villa in one of Italy’s Top 100 beautiful hilltop villages by lunchtime, we’ll take the time to build your bike, and roll out for a light afternoon ride around Neive to awaken your legs after a long trip. Following our acclimatisation ride, we’ll enjoy aperitivo and a phenomenal welcome dinner in this medieval town’s most elegant and sophisticated Piemontese restaurant.

Celebrating ‘vendemmia’ or grape harvest in the famous viticulture town of Barbaresco and hilltop Neive – Barbaresco; a small town with a big name thanks to its world class wine, we’ll join in the harvest celebrations as we enjoy aperitivo and welcome the trucks of grapes rolling in the late afternoon, before sharing Harvest dinner with the locals in the narrow, cobbled lanes of Neive; a truly authentic and memorable experience.

Daily buffet breakfast – a daily, home made Italian feast with magnificent local produce will be served at our hotel, and will keep you going for hours on or off the bike.

A traditional Long Lunch on a beautiful Le Langhe restaurant terrace  – it’s hard to beat a long Italian lunch where the hours slowly pass by and time has no meaning – our chosen restaurant with views as far as the eye can see will provide a memorable food, paired wine and hospitality experience.

Aperitivo hour each day  – this is one of our favourite traditions in Italy, originating in fact in the capital of Piemonte, Turin, and is the perfect reward after a great day out on the bike. Whether it’s a local icy cold beer, a glass of regional wine or our personal favourite in Piemonte, the Martini, it’s our shout.

A private wine tasting of ancient cellars in Barolo – the deep history, personalities, styles and vintages at our wine estate will provide a unique experience, not only from the wine tasting you’ll be treated to, but the ancient buildings and exclusive ‘talk with the winemaker’ we have lined up for you.

An afternoon in beautiful Alba, the gourmet capital of Piemonte – we’ll spend an afternoon exploring the beautiful, preserved town of Alba, visiting the White Truffle Festival and enjoying aperitivo and dinner in the gourmet capital.

A Finale Dinner in true La Morra & Barolo style – we will raise our glasses and toast an incredible week of riding, food, wine and new friendships in La Morra at an unforgettable farewell dinner, where chef Marco will surprise with traditional Piemontese dishes and wines.

Warm, engaging Italian hospitality – your hosts, Damian Hancock and Nancy De Losa will lead you through the week, sharing their warm, open entertaining style.  Combining Damian’s experience in leading group rides with their huge passion for Italian food and culture, means you’ll feel right at home in every town we visit. Nancy’s Italian heritage and fluency in speaking the language makes for a smooth experience with the locals each day. You’ll relish the experience that comes from their meticulous planning and attention to detail in all areas on and off the bike. Salute!

Generous free time to explore all that the historic towns of the Piemonte region have to offer – we believe a big part of the enjoyment of travel is being able to spontaneously duck into the piazza to enjoy a glass of wine and cheese, or a coffee or gelato.  Whatever it is that you like to do, there will be free time set aside for you to enjoy your own slice of heaven.
