Tour Overview

Nestled between the Alps and the Mediterranean lies this secret slice of paradise. If you spend your days dreaming of quiet, undiscovered roads and continual rolling hills with a backdrop of awe inspiring mountains, and world class food and wine experiences, then this breathtaking adventure to Piemonte awaits you.

Join us for the cycling adventure of a lifetime and the most incredible celebration of food and wine, as we indulge the senses in Le Langhe UNESCO world heritage wine region, and home of Barolo, Barbaresco and Barbera wines, at harvest time – and join in the annual harvest celebration of the prized white truffle of Alba from our home base in hilltop, medieval Neive – recognised as one of the most beautiful old towns in Italy.

We’ll discover the majestic beauty and charm of this region in all its Autumn splendour, and savour time honoured, gastronomic traditions in the home of Slow Food.

For cyclists who are food and wine lovers, it’s hard to imagine a more perfect week.

Piemonte Cycling Tour Ride Itinerary

Welcome to Piemonte and the spectacular Le Langhe wine region

We’ll do a different ride each day on our Piemonte cycling tours. We’ll roll through the picturesque and iconic wine region of Le Langhe, taking in the most spectacular areas and towns of Barolo, La Morra, Barbaresco, Neive, Serralunga d’Alba and more.

We always start this week with the Barbaresco loop as it’s the perfect introduction to Piemonte, with it’s rolling hills covered in a patch work of oranges and yellows that stretch as far as the eye can see, and it’s ancient villages and castles perched atop peaks. The few low rolling hills will provide the opportunity to loosen your legs after your travels, and also give you the chance to test your machine and make any micro adjustments to the bike as you need.

Highlight: The winding descent through the autumn leaves of the Barbaresco vineyards
Distance: 44km
Elevation: 980m

It’s time for you to explore the maze of tiny roads that wind their way over the three distinct but steady rolling hills you will have to contend with, continually rolling past cultivated vineyards and natural forests en route to Santo Stefano Belbo and then our hilltop home

Highlight: The anticipation of what is around the corner along the continual winding roads
Distance: 50km
Elevation: 1195m

Today is your longest day. You’ll descend and wind your way around to the ancient Roman-era hill top village of La Morra, where you’ll have panoramic vistas of the snow capped Alps in the background on your way to the next iconic town of Barolo, homw to the king of wines, before our light rollercoaster journey back to Neive.

Highlight: The descent and views from La Morra
Distance: 75km
Elevation: 1500m

Today we again take to the quiet and narrow ribbon of tarmac and transfer along the rolling hills filled with chestnut groves and forests, rich with mushrooms as we pass the towns of Diano d’Alba, Grinzane Cavour and Serralunga d’Alba with its 13th century castle perched on the crest of the hill on our way to our next villa in the town of Monforte d’alba.

Highlight: The superb vista and descent from Diano d’Alba.
Distance: 65km
Elevation: 1530m

Today is a bit of a rest day on the bike, with a traditional coffee shop ride. Expect a climb or two and more of the majestic landscape filled with endless rows of vines, cascading down the rolling hills. There will be plenty of time for on-the-bike conversation as you make your way to Bra, the birthplace of the slow food movement before rolling along quiet farming land and then up the northern side of La Morra and then heading for home.

Highlight: The smell of truffles as you descend through the hazelnut groves.
Distance: 50km
Elevation: 895m

You only have three rolling hills to contend with today as we head south and deep into the bosco and the beautiful hamlet of Bossolasco before taking on two more beautiful ascents and the the reward of spinning along the ridge line back to Monforte d’Alba for lunch.

Highlight: A descent along a tiny, empty twisting road, with a densely covered canopy of trees and forest.
Distance: 53km
Elevation: 1235m
