A Slice of Italy at Home. A Wrap on our 20/21 Tours.

We have wrapped up our summer season of local Australian tours across Victoria just in the nick of time, and what a great season it was.

With six tours across the regions of Daylesford and Bright, it has been splendid to be able to share a slice of Italy at home with many great people, both on and off the bike.

Below is a pictorial essay of the experiences enjoyed on our local tours.

The early part of the Mt Buffalo climb…… only another 20 odd k’s to go.

The idyllic mid ride lunch location by the river in the Kiewa Valley.

The rolling hills west of Daylesford. Quiet roads and open countryside….. it doesn’t get any better.

More quiet country roads and enchanting scenery in Victoria’s high country.

The gravel roads around Daylesford are superb.

There is nothing better than the reward of a long lunch after a big ride.

Conversation and post ride spritz…. or should that be post ride Spritz and conversation……. The latter we think.

One of the more important moments of the day…. aperitivo.

The summer sunshine and a little prosecco… another perfect pairing.

Molto contento. How nice it was after a long lunch to sit in the sun and while away the hours in this magnificent setting.

Damian’s homemade capocollo. There is always room for just one more slice.

The summer classic of prosciutto e melone is always a hit.

Parmigiano Reggiano. So delicious, it’s always with us on tour.

Homemade and handmade pasta is worth the effort every time and across the different tours, we enjoyed spaghetti, orecchiette and cannelloni with a range of delicious, seasonal sauces.

The absolute crowd favourite of Panna cotta con frutti di bosco or fresh farm-picked berries.

Homemade is a big part of what we do; from cured meats, to olives, peppers and zucchini sott’olio, to name just a few.

Walks in nature were a highlight of the non-riding partner programs. Here we take in stunning scenery of Mt Buffalo.

Late Autumn colour across the Lavandula Farm near Daylesford provided the perfect setting for exploring nature.

The local farmers market. Garden fresh, homemade…and Italian “frittole” as well…non riders on a winner at the Myrtleford market.

Lavender Champagne Bliss….not to mention the delicious lavender scones already consumed.

Capturing pics of nature’s finest along the way. It’s all part of the slow travel experience.

The magic of sunrise in the high country. The colours and the quiet.

Sitting at lunch, you gaze in awe at Mt Buffalo beyond the cypress pines and reflect on your ride up the Mt only a few hours earlier.

As we now sit tight during the winter months, we’ll wait in anticipation for beautiful Spring to arrive before enjoying another selection of Australian cycling tour experiences.
